Eagles open season with wins over Cedar Valley

    Shane Segovia was five for six at the plate and Darius Holguin added three RBI and a home run Saturday as the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles opened the season with a pair of wins over visiting Cedar Valley College.The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opening game before holding off a late Cedar Valley charge to earn a 4-3 victory. Holguin’s home run put NTCC up early in the second game as the Eagles picked up a 5-0 win.
    Segovia, a sophomore third baseman, had a strong opening day for the Eagles, finishing with four singles, a double and one RBI while scoring twice.

    Eagles Baseball to open season at home Saturday

    The 2012 spring baseball season gets underway this weekend as the Eagles host Cedar Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday.
    The Eagles baseball team is looking to earn a trip to the regional tournament and beyond this season as the squad has high hopes in 2012.
    “Our goal is to win a national championship. That is always what we want to do,” head coach Josh Stewart said. “There are certain things that we have to do first to reach that goal, like winning a conference championship, making the regional tournament and winning the regional tournament. We like to set our goals as high as we can and then try to reach them.”

    NTCC Eagles baseball, softball to offer live scoring online

    Northeast Texas Community College Eagles softball and baseball fans will have a new way to keep up with their favorite team in 2012, as NTCC will be using the stat keeping software Gamechanger to provide live scoring during all games. This program will allow NTCC fans to keep up with all of the action, even if they can’t make it out to the ballpark. Gamechanger’s live play-by-play will allow parents to keep up with their player’s performance even as they are at the plate, on the mound or in the field.

    K's for Kids kicks off second season

      The 2nd Ks 4 Kids Campaign welcomes a new addition to the lineup. The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles’ softball team will be adding its strikeouts to the campaign, which kicked off with the NTCC spring baseball and softball seasons on Jan. 27. The campaign is a joint effort between NTCC and Titus Regional Medical Foundation to raise money for infants and children treated at Titus Regional Medical Center. 

      "This will be softball's first year to participate in the Ks for Kids project. I think it will be a good incentive for our pitchers to work hard for more strikeouts," Head Softball Coach Jay Terry said. "It's a great way for us to give back to the community."

Northeast Texas Community College offers intercollegiate athletic competition for both men and women in a variety of sports. Northeast is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). NJCAA sports include men's baseball and women's fast pitch softball at the Division I level. Men's rodeo and women's rodeo participate in NIRA sanctioned events.
