Eagles Clip Colts on Kick Out Cancer Day

Mount Pleasant, Texas — The NTCC men's soccer team closed out their slate of 2026 non-conference games in style with a 2-0 victory vs UAC.

The Eagles warmed up in pink shirts prior to the game in support of the fight to Kick Out Cancer.

Kick Out Cancer is an annual program in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Association that supports a national effort to fundraise and bring awareness to the fight against cancer.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles came out flying, out shooting their opponents 16 - 8 in the game.  They got on the board in the 3rd minute, capitalizing on a beautiful through ball from Freshman defender Pelayo Marcos to Freshman attacker Yoan Amouye.  Amouye outraced the back line from his number 9 role and slotted home the eventual game winner to put the home side out in front. The Eagles went into the break holding on to the 1-0 lead.

Throughout much of the second half the Eagles continued to dominate the possession and won the shooting battle yet were unable to add to the total due to solid play in goal for UAC.

The second half was better for the visitors, and they made it a competitive match with some back and forth and periods of possession and a few good opportunities in front of goal for the Colts.

The Eagles rallied and created multiple chances for themselves as well and finally broke through again in the 87th minute on a well-placed serve off a corner kick from Isac Dialo that connected with Orlando Simancas Jr. to double the advantage and secure the 2 - 0 victory for NTCC.

GAME NOTES:

Sophomore Luke Hyatt earned the first shutout of the season and went the distance in goal.

Freshman Yoan Amouye scored his first career goal.

FROM THE COACH:

"UAC is another well-coached team on the rise. Our tough region schedule prepares us for these non-conference matches."

"The guys have stuck together and have been steady in their approach and navigating a tough stretch of our schedule.  I'm proud of the discipline we have shown defending without fouling.  That's 3 games in a row now without unnecessary cards. It's also a great sign that we are creating good shots for each other and have to keep believing that they will continue to find the back of the net."

"We have a big week ahead, we can celebrate tonight,  then we must recover and have a good week of preparation to send our sophomores out properly and get 2 results at home in preparation for tournament play."
